Of interest to some, Canva posted a couple of days ago on the Canva Forum that a native Linux version of Affinity is under development, but with no ETA being available.

I can't give a link as I've only seen copies of the original post from Canva (which is only one line long) which has been re-posted to a few places now.

As Canva have already admitted that the free version of Affinity is essentially a marketing exercise, with the rest of their tools online (which presumably already work in Linux), this could be an important move for them in expanding their customer base.

Excellent.

The only reason in the last month I have dual booted into Windows is for photography software. So this removes another need to use Windows

I have been using Lightroom on the web (as a web app) in Linux for quite a lot of stuff recently (I still need to use it in Windows to do some of the more intensive stuff but 80% of the time if I am just culling and viewing etc I stick with using it in Linux)

Yes, photo-processing software is difficult to properly replace in Linux.

If Sombra turns out to be as as good as it looks, and it actually manages to get a reliable Linux port (projected for February next year), it will make Linux a lot more attractive for photography. It still isn't going to be a Photoshop replacement.
