Hello.

Found a localish firm today who can do me a bespoke canvas 36"x18" and price was £62+VAT.

Went along to have a look at their work, and was pretty pleased with their work. The receptionist girlie went off with the file on a card to ensure that it was of suitable quality etc etc (which it obviously was!)

Next thing, MD of the company is there, saying he absolutely loved the picture and they would do it for free if I would let them do another copy for their portfolio / showroom.

I said fine as long as my name is with the pic. Have I done the right thing???? (At the end of the day they have a high res copy of the file, so for all I know they could have done it anyway as unlikely to be going back anytime soon!!)
 
It sounds like a good deal IF your name is with the picture and it is only used as a single picture on their wall on canvas and not on their website or something like that.

I think you have a brilliant deal.

Just how much do you think you could have sold the photo for?

Many stock sites (not micros) would only pay you around £62 for your shot if it were published in advert. Plus you have free advertising, how much is that worth???????

Some folks need to get a grip on reality regarding selling of photos.

.....and I'm not bitter at all about them not publishing the picture I sent in to the same paper :razz:

I was pretty happy with the offer (very happy infact!)

Damien got there first with the pic, though a slightly different B&W edit - nothing much.

Lets hope that they do a good job. :clap:


I WILL contest though that the local rag did NOT publish that picture or any picture like it, (but that's been discussed loads! - I'm just being a pretty published prancing pony diva....;)) Butchers :lol:

Seriously, though Damien, I wouldn't worry as I think I got lucky in being picked out of the hat that day other than for photographic ability/quality judging by some of the stuff I see in there and your submitted pic (already cropped to EDP size, so they couldn't ruin it.)
