Carbon Fibre Monopod Lubrication - What would You Use?

Hi Guys,

Now the motorsport season is almost over, it is time to service my kit.

I have a Manfrotto carbon monopod and I have it stripped down on the desk in front of me, and was wondering if anyone would smear the surfaces of the parts with anything before I re-assemble it?

Whatever it might be, I don't plan on using a lot, oil, wax etc. I think they are assembled dry, but I can't find any litrature on it.

Any advice or horror stories would be a help,

I wouldn't use any lube; you want the locks to lock the sections together, as they rely on friction, any lube might hinder that.

I was looking at the "inards" rather than the lock, but fair point, thanks

I use Vaseline on my Gitzo tripod and monopod twist-lock threads.....seems to keep them smooth to operate.
