Im thinking hard about replacing my tripod soon. I dont really want to pay silly money like £500 that some Gitzo are but then again I dont want a cheapo one.

It will mainly be used for Lanscape work

What I am Looking For:
  • Carbon Fibre
  • 3 or 4 leg extention
  • Withstand Nikon D3s + 70-200
  • Withstand Manfrotto Gearhead
  • Lightweight
  • Quick adjustable legs
Anyone got any suggestions for me please
 
xpro-c 190 or xpro-c 55? They make a new one now where they legs extend outside (good for water) and all controlled from a button at the top, can't remember the name or weather its available in carbon fiber

I really really want a vitruvian but its a weeeee bit smaller :p

I have a Giottos carbonfibre tripod, and it's excellent! :thumbs:
 
Benro is supposed to be exact knockoffs of the Gitzos.
Check out dc-stuffs on ebay for a huge selection of their carbon fiber range, which is usually half the price of the equivalent Gitzo. Photopal and kenro stocks them locally as well if you don't mind the older models they are selling.

I can't remember. it's at home, and i'm at work so won't be able to confirm what one i have. it was about £160.00 from Park cameras, plus i purchased a Manfrotto ball head for it. an excellent set up to be honest. Well made, nice and light, solid, and rigid as well. If it's really windy, i sometimes use the built in hook on the centre column to hang my bag off it, but i must say, it has never moved without the bag hanging off it. I use it with a gripped D300s, andvarious lenses ranging from my Tokina 11-16, up to my 70-200 VRII with a 2x TC on it, so the tripod is easily up to the job you require. You can also flip the centre column through 90 degrees in seconds as well. I highly recommend it!

I'm using a Benro carbon tripod right now, it's a nice piece of kit, not too heavy and very stable with 3 leg extension sections. The centre column can also be positioned anywhere which is good for macro work or if you want the camera down to near ground level.
