I have had a basic card reader which was ok for an ordinary sd card but since i bought a faster card the reader struggles so is there any particular card reader I should buy, preferably not too expensive, thanks
exactly so, some card readers (older ones) are not 'Proper' USB2 and hence won't do full USB 2.0 speed.
Also some (again older ones) won't read SDHC cards.
picked mine up from a currys/pcworld store for £19.99 they are very quick and can handle upto the highest speeds available at the moment (they're back upto £25.99
Wow, lots to check out there, thanks for all the replies. I use a basic desktop Dave although I'm considering moving over to an imac, would that have an express card slot??
My cheapy card will read SDHC too but it takes forever so I need an upgrade
Just use the USB cable to connect camera to computer - miles easier and it's an easier item to store in a bag and carry around all the time. I gave up on card readers because they're poorly built and cab butcher cards quite easily
At work we use the card reader all the time (Not photography related) and have got though plenty of cheap ones. Then we bought one of THESE and it's been going strong for over two year, in fact I have one at home and have never had any issues at all with it.
It's also quite handy being 12 in 1, as the Mrs camera takes SD.
I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago. Only £8 and no complaints so far.
I've recently taken advantage of Belkin's life time warranty (on a surge protector). It was replaced with a newer model (as the faulty one was discontinued) and the process was most impressive. Very quick and easy, with no costs incurred.
