If you read the reviews then they seem to like the Tamron for the money, although no user reviews, I've got the canon, and really like type of photo's it takes (use a ultra thin filter, otherwise you'll see the edges in shot), best shooting range is 10-16mm for the canon. I assume you've discounted it because of the price.

yes the price for the canon 10-22 is over my budget, i heard alot of good things about the sigma.......:shrug:

I've got the Siggy and think it's absolutely cracking, especially stopped down a bit, which you'd always do with a lens like this anyway... I doubt I'd change it for anything else I find it so good...

Thought you'd decided the other day? What's put doubt in your mind?

The Sigma is a great lens, and real fun to use, but make sure you get a good copy as Sigma's build quality consistency can vary.

One of the August magazines ran a test on Sigma, Tamron and Tokina and the Sigma 10-20 came tops.

Mine just arrived, its my third copy of this lens and its perfect. The first two copies were returned (smear on front element and dust) so my advice would be to buy one from a source where you can inspect it first before paying or ensure its a good internet vendor who will deal with any issues promptly.

Love my Siggy 10-20, the Canon may be better, but I don't think it's anywhere near worth the extra wonga.

As a matter of interest why did you not mention the Tokina 12-24mm. Or is it 10mm you need? I only ask as I am interested in one or the other of these lenses.

can i just add my 2 pence worth and vote for the sigma thanks

I posted a good side by side image comparison on your last post about this, cant remember the link but it pretty much sums it up.

The Siggy is sharper than the Tamron, with the Tamron being fairly soft over the range. But again, with the Sigma, it depends on the copy you have. Thats based on what I've read, not experienced as I've never used the Tamron.

Edit - here it is, quite interesting;

The sigma has won every magazine I've read, including one against the consumer Canon and Nikon equivalents.

I like mine though it hardly gets used.
