Critique Catkins

Not sure it's worth inviting critique on theses because I know they are not worthy, however the hedgerows around here are bursting with clouds of pale green hazel catkins and I want to get a decent photo of them but they are resisting any attempts to get a decent image so I've put these up as a talking-point more than a critique on these images. How do I go about photographing something like this in a busy hedgerow?

The second one is very nice but I'd like to get a shot that captures the "cloud" effect that you initially see as you approach a hazel but also captures some catkin detail. May be it is not possible?
