CF Card Issue

A while ago I bought 2 16gb Kingston CF cards on the forum... they work perfectly in the way they save files etc, however I have just realised that they only register just under 8gb on my camera and PC???

Even when going to format it just shows the max being just under 8gig... any reason for this? I use a 5D1 and running win 7 on the PC. Being an IT person I would assume 8gig cards labelled as 16... as if they were faulty I would assume total failure I guess.

Format in camera, then take a reading of images calculated by camera. Multiply this number with your average file size. How does this number match 8 or 16 GB?

If not above 8 GB, then your cards may be fakes...

A lot of older cameras can only cope with a max 8Gb and will format larger cards to that.

I know what you are saying mark, but surly formatting in the pc would show 16?
