Hi all

So, I went for the 7D in the end... got the last refurb one from the Canon outlet last night! I'll now need some CF cards, as my 450D takes SD.

What is a 'good' speed to get for the 7D? Would 300x be adequate for general stuff, or should I go all out for 600x? I think the SD card I'm currently using, a Class 10 writes at 20mbps - so assume I'd need to up that?

Any advice? Don't have *huge* budget so not looking to be buying those 'pro' ones at several hundred pounds each! Have seen some 16gb Duracell ones, 600x for about £35, slightly cheaper for the slower ones.

Any advice gratefully received!

Ben

You don't need a fast CF card unless you do any amount of high speed shooting. Personally, I use 8G Sandisk ones rated at either 30MB/s or 60MB/s. Video just needs a decent card (from memory it's a few megabytes/sec rate).

I recommend using smaller sized cards. If you use one big card and it fails you've potentially lost LOTS of pictures. Better to use 4 x4gb cards than one 16gb card.
