Don't know about the specs but they're cheaper from mymemory.com :)
 
To be honest you probably don't need that sort of speed (and expense) unless you are shooting RAW video on a magic lantern hacked Canon camera.
 
Aye I'll be shooting RAW using ML on the 5D3 and also using the card in my mates 4K camcorder as well. He's very particular about his memory cards so I'll have to use my own lol

If you want to maximise the performance of the 5D3 in continuous shooting FPS then the very fastest cards are useful if you're prepared to pay the price. Whilst buffer capacity doesn't increase, the number of frames that you can shoot before slowdown can increase by as much as 45%

Thanks Gaz, I didn't know it made that much difference to the 5D3 for stills, useful to know.
 
Can only vouch for Sandisk CF cards with these figures as that is the only make I use.

60MB/S Max RAW 13. Frames before FPS slowed 17. Time to clear buffer to Max RAW of 13 again 5.5 secs.

90MB/S Max RAW 13. Frames before FPS slowed 21. Time to clear buffer to max RAW of 13 again 4.0 secs.

160MB/S Max RAW 13. Frames before FPS slowed 25. Time to clear buffer to max RAW of 13 again 3.25 secs. This is a UDMA 7 card.
 
Just remember the SD slot is limited to 133x. So if you have a super fast CF card and a super fast SD card in the camera at the same time the Camera will default to the slowest card slot speed which is the SD card (133x)

First when looking for memory cards ,you should first look at MB/s and then the class of card. lastly the size of memory. A slow card will stall a camera during continuous shooting until the card catches up

I have a 1000x Lexar as my main CF card but use a Sandisk Extreme in the SD slot which presumably creates the bottleneck...
 
I thought you could select the primary card for the data to get saved to? Or at least that's what I thought I saw in a video about shooting raw video with a 5d using ML.
 
You can. You don't have to use the SD card at all if you don't want to. I just have mine set to save to both cards at the same time as a backup.

If you are shooting RAW video on a 5D III, the cheaper option for CF cards is Komputerbay, usually around half the price of Lexar. Obviously they are not as reliable but if you are just experimenting with video...

You'd need to check the ML forums to find out which ones work best, they did tests. I have a 1000x Komputerbay card which I happily use without issue for stills.
