CF Formating problem

One of my CF cards is not allowing me to download the images on it, and it says there the card needs to be formatted, thus, it seems, deleting the images on it that I need.
Can I format the card without deleting the images?

What make card is it? You might be able to get some recovery software with some google digging.

If you format the card you will lose the images.

Are you doing the downloading via card reader or via camera cable?

Agreed. I tried this with one of my Sandisks and the "Rescuepro" software that comes with them.
 
It seems that your card is corrupted so that you are facing the situation, now you have to format the cf card to access it and for your data you will use a good data recovery software. I will suggest you Kernel for memory card recovery software which is a efficient software for the same purpose.
 
Just a quick 'Thanks' to all you guys who replied and offered help. I've retrieved the images using 'Image Rescue 3'. Top piece of software.
