CF to SD card adapter ....

.... for my 40D , seems to me as though CF is getting more expensive ( or has it always been more expensive :shrug: ) , one of these adapters would be a good idea , to get the best out of the camera would i need to go upto Class 10 cards or would Class 6 be good enough ? , also , do these adapters allow for removal of the Sd card from them without removing the adapter ? , i know CF has been around for ages but i just do not like the look of all them teeny weeny bendable pins in the bottom of the CF slot :nono:
 
As far as I understand it CF is more stable and reliable than SD, which has certainly played true for me. Using two Fuji and one Sandisk CF cards over the last three years with regular formatting, I've never had a single corruption (as of yet). You shouldn't bend the pins at the bottom of the slot unless you're sticking stuff down the slot (you're not doing that, are you?) The card goes in straight and the pins go straight in the holes.

thanks , no i aint sticking things in the CF slot instead of CF cards :thinking: , one of the other reasons i was thinking of going down this route is that if i ever needed to i can get Sd cards pretty much anywhere on the highstreet in an emergency whereas my options for emergency CF are far more limited .........
 
CF cards are cheap now compared to what they were years ago. I found a receipt the other day for an old old old sandisk 512mb card and it was over £150 :eek:

I shoot with 16gb cards now and they dont cost that much :D

Never managed to bend a pin in any CF slot on any of my devices, common sense and care for your kit should eliminate the risk :thumbs:

Get cards now, always have a spare with you and you'll never be faced with an emergency purchase that has your pants down ;)
 
ok then , what CF cards to buy , want fast enough cards without going overboard ...........

I bought a couple of THESE, they were advertised on here in the bargains thread. I also use Integral and Sandisk. TBH these Samsungs are the Dogs Danglies, and for the price they are a steal. I also have a 40D and believe me they are a perfect match.
