Took this snap shot recently, and as with all my shots it's not great but I like it

Not bad at all that mate, could do with a bit of shadow/highlight adjustment to bring out a bit more detail on the closest side & possibly a bit more sharpening but aside from that its a really nice shot - bokeh is excellent & focus looks spot on

Thanks for the comment. This is actually an 800*600 selection of a much larger image. Taken with an EOS400D, image size large and at the 300mm end of a zoom lens.

at 300mm of a normal (non L) zoom lens it's liable to need a bit more effort to bring the best out as they tend to be a bit softer.

Urm... that sounded bad.
I dont expect anyone to have an L lens, it's just the compromise we make £££/IQ. You can still get very good results (as you have) from a standard lens.

Just a slight increase in overall lightness as it's rather dark. Then selectively lightened the side of the head in shadow. Just sharpened slightly.

Not much wrong with that at all.

Thats a very nice shot, CT vertion clearly shows its full potential, its a cracker.
