Hi One and All,

Well after many years of being a Canon-ite, I am considering trying a Nikon.
Not sure which model to get to use for a while before maybe a complete change, I suppose I should look at the d90 and maybe the d300, and a basic lens. I can then snap of a few hundred shots and compare either what I have been missing....lol
Who knows.....maybe I will be surprised !!!!!

Any Thoughts and suggestions welcome. ( looking on the classifieds...lol)

I am just curious as to whether I have been missing out on a better camera, easier to use etc. or if all the sabre rattling between Canon and Nikon users is just that.
I suppose its an itch that I need to scratch !!!!
I will keep my Canon stuff, at least until I am satisfied where to settle....lol

Hi Ade - i started a thread recently as im about to invest in a new camera. i have been using the nikon D70 for 5 years now, it was a great starter DSLR for me. I had a bit of a wobble last week when i tried out the canon 50d and got cold feet about buying anything as i had been sure i wanted the D300. having read advice and comments here and re-thinking over the weekend i have decided to go for the d300 as my lenses are nikon and theres not a huge difference between both of these great cameras. i find nikon very easy to operate, functions are straightforward and the cameras feel great to handle. admittedly, if i could i would invest in far better quality lenses but in this instance i need a new body.

Ahh...gotcha :cuckoo:

For me it's all came down to ergonomics, I prefer the way Nikons handle compared to Canons, there's probably not much in it otherwise..

Cheers guys for that info......I have been into canon since the start of autofocus and have progressed perhaps down a tunnel.
I have a nice selection of glass, including some L glass.
I have a back up body which is also canon, but the way I see it, I have about £800 to spend (wife hasnt found my stash !!!) If I get either a D90 or D300, it will be a far better back up camera than the old d30 I am using at the mo. So even if I dont like it, I can always re-sell it on and get a d50 or something instead.

let me know where you can find a d300 for £800 and il go shopping with you! the cheapest i have found so far is £850 at edinburgh airport otherwise is £1000 plus!!

lol......you and me with shopping bags.....hmmmm
I dont even do that with the wife, so you have no hope....lmao
I am looking at second user, hence my eyes are glued to the classifieds on here

800 quid?

If I were you I'd chuck that into a Canon upgrade because unless you plan on dumping all of your Canon gear you have a Nikon minus any glass to go with it!

The D300 is very good, but even the D300 struggles without a lens :D

No wonder all my shots are white and blurred....lol

Well I have the chance of a D90 with a 18-105 VR which I assume will be ok to get me into the world of Nikon, but there may be a D300 body for that money and I can get a lens on top ( wife not looking I hope )
Its only then that I shall know if I am to sell of all the other Canon stuff and get the equivalent in Nikon
