Yes
I currently have a canon 400d, however if i wanted to "convert" and buy a Nikon, would it be possable to send my Sigma lenses off for them to have the mount changed, or would it just be a case of start again?

i was just wondering, becuase the Nikon D90 looks like a nice camera, i was thinking that maybe later on in the summer upgrading to something different.

I think you have to justify the main reasons why. It could be in a year's time Canon will have a better camera for your needs then you'll want to switch again.

Changing to a new mount setup is not an easy or cheap task.

Youve got some nice lenses there, why not look at a 40/50d if you feel the urge for a change?

Despite Sigma producing lenses for various mounts, it's not as simple as just fitting different mount for each new camera. The mechanical aperture coupling is different and may even open in different direction (for example Pentax vs. Nikon), the electronic communication system is vastly different for each camera, and lastly, the back focal distance is different for each system. The latter means that lens optical assembly for each mount is slightly different so mount changing may (and more likely won't) work just because of this (not even counting other reasons).

So yes, you should really start again ;)

I would guess Sigma could change the mounts if it wanted to, but whether it would be prepared to do it, and how much it would cost I dread to think. Bearing in mind it's not a very common job it may well cost more than buying the lens new, maybe if you have the very expensive special lenses it might be worth it, a couple of K for a 20K lens is a good deal, on the normal lenses I doubt it would be a money saver. na, i dont have 20k of lenses lol, i have a Siggy 100-300 F4 EX, the 150mm F2.8 Macro with them and i have a flash. All the rest are Canon ones.

You have two fairly well sought after lenses so should you choose to change then you will have no problems moving them along.
