Yes
I have a new Nokia N8 aside from the normal mains charger I can charge it via a USB cable from a USB port on my laptop to the mini usb socket on the phone.

My wife has a Blackberry and she charges it from a mains charger to her mini usb socket.

Could I use her charger to charge my Nokia or could it be different volts/amps?

Pete

USB is a standard 5v 500ma so yes any Micro USB charger or Main Lead will do the trick. My N900 charges of the girlfriends Crapberry.

If your paranoid though check the charger outputs 5v. Amps wont matter (as with most things) as long as its greater than the draw of the device.

The idea between MicroUSB was to standardise charging technologys. Most companies have agreed and started moving over and providing Micro USB ports except Apple (no surprises their) where you have to get a Convertor to take USB into the Dock (or just buy a USB sync lead)

Thank you very much Robin

They have a long pedigree of being good for "Push Mail" so they for a long while had a pedigree of being "Business Phones" as it was a touted feature and until Exchange Push came onto the market properlly and Windows/Nokia/Apple all implemented ActivePush from Microsoft they were.

Like a lot of companies in this position they became a de-facto standard, sit still, get overtaken then when their market share gets swallowed up by cheaper/free alternatives and then panic and start innovating again.

Their very simple phones however their still far too simple (not necessarily a bad thing) however ive never found a blackberry to do anything better than a phone that costs half as much and the software suites available offer nothing better than a lot of the alternatives.
