Found two flashguns in a local charity shop. Jessops 360 AFDN and a Vivitar 3500, £7.00 for the pair. Both working 100% as they should. There was a Vivitar 283 in the shop too, priced at £4.00, but Botzilla said the trigger voltage was way too high for a digital camera so I passed on that one.
After a bit of checking, it seems that the newer versions of the Vivitar 283 have a trigger voltage of around 9 volts. So I went back to the charity shop and they had reduced the price to £1.00, so I snapped that up. On getting it home I checked the voltage and it was a nice safe 8.5 volts. A nice bonus was that it came with an off camera cord. So 3 flashes for £8.00, happy days.
