I spend a lot of time on my bike, and I pretty much always take my camera with me, even on occasions when I know the chances of using it are slim to non - on the basis that you never know when something out of the ordinary is going to happen.
Basically I'm dragging my Canon 30d around a lot, and not using it. So I'm thinking of introducing something a bit smaller into my inventory. Not as a replacement, but an addition. One that I can fit into a pocket, or a small pack, and perhaps even be encouraged to use it more with its more versatile size.
The thing is, I know virtually nothing about compact cameras. The only things I know are that I want the general control of a dSLR: Manual modes, RAW, no shutter lag, etc.
I accept the trade-off will be a smaller sensor and reduced optical quality (I'm a big fan of primes too). But I do want something still that is capable of good photography. (Obviously that comes down to the user ... let's say I'd like something that compliments my own talents
).
Firstly, I'm hoping this is possible, to find something that meets this criteria. And secondly, I'm hoping to do it for, say.....£100? I'm thinking, that maybe, just maybe, there's not a big market for old compacts. Hoping, anyway. And you can pick up a half decent dSLR for that these days. So surely it can be done?
But like I say, I know almost nothing about them. Any advice and recommendations appreciated.
