cheap ebay infrared remotes

since there is no wired remote shutter release for my camera, and i can't find the sony infrared remote anywhere, i've found myself looking at the cheap ebay remotes. has anyone any experience of using these? if it turns out to be a piece of ---- it'll not be a great loss as it'll only sting me about a tenner.

what model is your sony?
i got a cable remote from amazon for my A350 and it works a treat,3meters long and they do a 1meter one too.

it's an a390, there is no port for a wired remote. i bought a hahnel one from jessops and had to take it back for this reason. the guy in the store said it was infrared only, but i can't find the sony version.

the a380/390 are the same regarding the remote release

I bought a cheap one from eBay for my Canon 50d and I love it. I have used it up to 50m away from indoors and it worked great. Its meant to have a 100m range but only tested it to about 50m. I find it fast and only had a problem once. I use it in continuous shot and it did not stop so had to run and unplug it. However it only happened once.

I got one from ebay for 99p.

Works great on both a canon 350d and 500d
