cheap place to buy apple

Hi all,

Long term I want a 17" mpb. Priced up on apple education store and I was wondering if I can beat that.

Also going to email to ask if refurbs get student discount as they cost similar without.

Any and all info appreciated

I doubt you will get a new MPB cheaper than on the education store. Did you price it up from a uni IP address?

yep, I did some hunting and it looks like its not happening, but thought it'd be worth asking around anyways

when I come to buy a friend might be buying a spec'd up 27" imac so buying both together might give me a bit more discount, maybe

Nope, and if you do buy that way, bear in mind you'll not be able to purchase another Mac under the discount scheme during the academic year.

I got the new 27" imac for £1538 in CANCOM last week. Still more expensive than the eduction store, but not by a huge margin, plus local pick up...

The screen seems way longer but not taller BTW...

The good (and bad for bargains) thing about Apple's pricing is you probably don't need to shop around.

The cheapest way of getting Apple kit is to buy from their refurbished store (I've bought an iMac and a MacBook Pro from there with no issues - both machines like-new) or risk an eBay purchase.

If you do manage to find it on offer somewhere else, the Apple store will price match to certain places - they price matched an i-pod touch to John Lewis for me over the weekend, without question.
