Cheap Remote Timer for a Nikon

Anybody used one of the cheapo remote timers from ebay? I have a wireless remote but would like something to use for star trails etc... This is the sort of the thing I'm looking at if anybody has any comments...

I've got one exactly like that. It is BRILLIANT. Does everything you could reasonably want it to do, easy to program. For £16.99 you can't go wrong, end of.

I have a couple of the IR ones for like £1.99 they work fine to

I have the exact same one. I paid slightly more for mine though.

Its a direct copy of the official Nikon one at less than a quarter of the price. Works exactly the same as the official one. A no brainer really.

This is the 10 pin version, is it compatible with the D5000 in your sig?

I'm pretty sure that's the same as the one on eBay which the OP asked about, except they might have different camera connectors. I don't know what types of connectors the various Nikon bodies have, but it's always important to check compatibility on things like this.

I've got the one like the OP had at the top of this thread. Its a Chinese copy of a Nikon one who's model number I forget.

Does work just fine though and is much more of the price/value point that I needed vs the Nikon one.

As far as I can figure out, the one listed by the OP, is the 10 pin version, which will not work on the D5000 or D90.

Just curious as to which camera the OP has. If it is a d5000 the one he posted will not work.

Just to clear up the confusion. I'm in the process of buying a D300 which would be what I use the timer on.
