Hi all

My grandma-in-law's cheap Kodak compact camera has given up the ghost and she's looking for a replacement.

She doesn't use it much and is far far from an expert. She likes taking photos of the her at grandchildren in poses i.e. not running around.

Any suggestions for a used compact with maximum budget of £80. Nothing higher but obviously less is OK. What's the best for the money with basic operation? Must have lithium battery etc rather than AA or AAA.

Thanks

Colin

For £80 I would go for the fuji f600EXR very high spec camera and originally sold for over £300 when first introduced. It can be bought direct from fuji UK (says refurbished but I and other have bought from them and they are brand new items but just come I a plain box) link below

Or for a little less the F300EXR another great camera but only £59

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

That sounds pretty good. Is there postage to add on those?

I was recently in a similar spot - my MiL has been using an APS compact but now can't get hold of film so while I was in the local LCE (where I got her last bunch of APS films and was hoping to find more) I spotted a Nikon compact in their 2nd hand cabinet for £40. I offered £35 for it with no warranty, box or instructions and took it away, with an added bonus that since its charger had gone AWOL in store, they threw in a universal charger (which was sale priced at £30!).

I'm afraid I can't remember the model number but it was LiIon, touchscreen and a fairly high pixel count (certainly well beyond most snapshooters' needs!) My advice would be to visit a shop with some second hand cameras in stock and pick the one that seems easiest to use!
