I have a good look around for a 10 stop ND, the only one i've come up with is the B+W for £60 warehouse express.
Is there a cheaper one that's slightly similar in quality or is this the only one ?
i suspect an ND8 won't give anywhere near the results with a shorter exposure.

I'm not much into sticking other people's bits of glass/plastic in front of my expensive lenses as ALL will reduce the overall IQ - but when I do buy the odd filter, it's ALWAYS the best ones made - which is why I have BW ones too

Cheap is truly a false economy mate, as one day you'll get an absolute corker of a shot and it won't be worth blowing up really big as you'll see how crap the IQ is due to the filter

The next time you or your partner fancy a good night out - stay in instead and use the savings to buy the BW one ;)

You're obviously a big hit with the ladies Dave ;) I'd take her out, and after the third glass, slip your 10 stops ND under her napkin :naughty:

As far as I know the B+W is the only ten stopper. But it costs a bit (there's another post on here with a link to a very cheap German on-line store) and it's uncoated acrylic that gives a slight colour cast. Seems to be in very short supply at Warehouse Express etc, but I think Kerso might be able to get them a bit cheaper. I'm surprised DD would have such an obviously inferior object on his lens, but it works for most folks ;)

I'm trying to get a Hoya X400, which is nine stops, and multi-coated. But it's special order only in the UK, ie two months waiting, at full RRP. I'm toying with the idea of buying a few filters from B&H in the US, a couple of Tiffens also, which is the only way to make sense of the $45 shipping.
