Yes
as it doesn't have a built in flash, I'm after a cheapy 'walkaround' flash.... nothing better than the built in flash of my 450D is needed

so ...

what's cheap, but still worth buying ! ?

small/pocket size would be a bonus

The entry level 270EX should suit it fine, if that's what you're after..

bump

I just want the cheapest thing that will work - without frying my body

I've been using a Jessops 300D with my 5D Mk2, but it's a bit of a pig if you're not used to doing your settings manually. For this reason, my next purchase will be a flash that can sync properly with the camera - I've spent this much so far, so I'll probably go for a 580EX II once I've saved up a bit.

You can get a Jessops 360AFD for Canon - basic swivel/bounce flash unit, eTTL and manual mode if you want it. From memory they were £99 new or cheaper on eBay.
