Cheapest way of entering the Digital Medium Format Arena

I'm aware of a few entrance points into digital mf, as well as buying used of course.

I was surprised to find this so cheap

As I thought they were entering the market at a similar price point to the Hasselblad H4D 31 options.

I'm debating buying a Mamiya 645 AF with a couple of lenses are hiring a digi back whenever I think one will benefit me.

I have no interest in using film in it.

General discussion people, how have you gotten into the MF arena, or what would you do now there are a few lower priced options?

If I'm honest I really REALLY want to try the H4D, I'm just waiting for a client to give me an excuse to hire one :) lol

I know nothing about medium format, but I do know that you can edit the title of your thread to make it more meaningful.....

And here I was hoping you were gonna enlighten me about lensesforhire moving into MF rentals...!!

The Pentax 645 was aimed at about the £/$10k mark - so (deliberatly) considerably less than the alternatives, as well as offering some differences such as weather-sealing etc. The ebay price you linked to isn't so great when you consider you'll need to pay VAT + Import duty etc etc and be lumbered with a grey import with potential warrantee issues - add all that in, and you'd be better-off going to a UK dealer

I've had a play with one on a couple of occasions - it is a very nice thing to hold, and takes loverly pictures, but fortunetly I haven't got 10k to spare...:lol:
