Looking to get a smaller camera for my travels to London etc where I am finding to DSLR too big and bulky to take with me.

Budget is around £250 as so far was looking at Canon G16 and S120. Pretty different in size but they both cover what I am looking for. Any other suggestions for a camera around this budget? No bigger than the G16 though.

Priority is image quality and maybe a few manual controls.

What kind of zoom level? Obvious choice is the rx100.

Canon EOS M if Argos are still doing them? APS-C sensor, 18-55 IS lens with flash for £200. Quite deep with the lens but still not massively bulky or anything

EOS looks good, but wanted to keep it bit more compact. Maybe if I can find it cheapish with a fixed lens.

Something that is ok in low light would be handy.

There's a 22mm f2 that's really compact and about £80 on eBay but carrying that obviously gets rid of your zoom and then will become a compromise!

For £280 you could have the 18-55 and the 22mm but then you're getting away from compact and another compromise  so maybe doesn't sound right for you.

Hmm, sadly think budget is restrictive here. A decent high end compact is what I want, but at budget pricing. Lol

2nd hand probably best way forward!

Checked out a few cameras today in Park Cameras. I'm ruling out an S120, want something a bit bigger with a bit more grip. G16 is nice, pretty tall, but solid. View finder is a bonus, even though its not great.

Also looked at the LX7 which is still about! Its a nice size, but the screen seemed a lot worse than the G16. No idea if its still worth a look.

No closer to making a decision though!

Looking for something similar for the missus.

Options I've been looking at

Canon s120
Panasonic tz60
Fuji xq1 or xq2

I did see a really good deal on the Fuji xf1 but they have a poor build quality.

Also seen someone selling a Ricoh gr secondhand on another forum at the top end of your budget. Ono £300
