Folks,

Apologies if this is the wrong place for posting this - mods please move as appropriate.

For xmas I got tickets to attend a Andy Rouse visions sessions at Chester Zoo :):):):):):)

Anyone been to Chester zoo?, any advice on best places to go / avoid as we will only have a limited time available to get some shots.

Many thanks for any help

Cheers

Hi WoolyBack. I've been to chester zoo twice now, first time my fiancee was doing a zookeeper experience.

If the weather is good and the elephants are out doors, there are some good photo opportunities there, likewise the Giraffes. The Tropical house is good for bird shots, there are large bird enclosures and tanks for snakes, lizards etc. but there are a large number of finches, and other birds flying freely around.

If inside where the birds fly about, make sure your equipment is covered. They use the punters for target practice...............And I don't think it is that good luck.....

The Sea lions are good at feeding time (about 4:00pm on certain days) and the penguins are ace too.

But in all honestly i can spend a full day there with or without the camera. Its an ace place!

It's a brilliant zoo and you'll get some great pictures but I prefer Colwyn Bay Zoo over Chester, you can get closer to the animals there and there's a Penguin Parade

there is a new raised walkway over the cheetahs and a few other animals. Really good when they are sunbathing. The meerkats are usually quite good also

I'm hoping to celebrate my 40th birthday at Chester Zoo (July) and now I have the camera, I'm even more excited
