Well the light was poor and it was bl*$dy cold !!
Only managed to get two 'fair' shots.....a bit disapointing.

I think you are being a bit hard an yourself. This is more than a fair shot. This is a really good pic. with a style reminiscent of the 'Picture Post' news photographers from the 1940s. I like the isolation of the child - only interested in the toy she has, while I guess the parade goes on just out of frame. I like it.

if this is a fair shot then think you are being hard on yourself

the emotion is there and the anticipation of something about to happen

I have another version, which I have subsequently toned slightly differently.
Better/worse than the 1st posted image ?

I like both. though the first seems to tell more stories. I suspect the second will be seen as more of a "photograph" and so better liked.
