If you setup your site correctly you would automatically redirect all http requests to https.

Easily done in a .htaccess file for example.

Don't expect visitors to do it and don't expect google to redirect, it's not their job.

What he said, doing a rewrite rule in the htaccess would do the trick.

Had a bit of bother getting the old PhotoCart playing nicely but was reasonably painless for the normal parts of the site.
