Looking for suggestions that I can mention to family when they ask 'what do you want for xmas'

Well is there anything you need for your photography? How much roughly are we talking about?

tell them you want something that goes zoom zoom but its not a mazda car ;)

Difficult to know what to suggest without knowing how much they are prepared to spend on you. Personally I'd like a nice big f/2.8 prime telephoto, but I know that isn't going to happen.

Assuming you are talking about photography kit, and that lenses and bodies are too expensive, what about things like rocket blower, annual subscription to your favourite photography magazine, tripod, bag for your kit, flash gun, flash meter, remote release, filters, editing software, extension tubes?

Socks?

I asked for a 40D last year

Got one :(

Great suggestions. I was thinking along the lines of stocking fillers so Scarecrows suggestions were excellent. I got a gorillapod for my birthday this way - so was just wondering if you have an indispensible gadget that might fit the bill?

ps I already have a thing for getting stones out of horses hooves ;-)

Thought of a couple more.

Grey card, extender (1.4x or 2x, your choice.), spare camera battery, print paper (assuming you make your own prints), digital picture frame, monopod.

I'll post again if I think of any more.

what do you need..dont get it unless you do..

i am getting some cards..an Xd and CF and some printing paper...and a nice dressing gown to look at my photos in on christmas morning

as above a spare battery is a must..beyond that could be just star gazing

I don't need much - I have all the batteries, triggers, flashes, tripods, stands, softboxes that I need. I don't use filters much (ND occasionally). Was just looking for an idea that I may have overlooked or that someone finds really indispensible.

I'll probably settle for books.

Thanks for all the replies.
