Christmas Present

My dear wife has asked me what I want for Christmas and given me a budget of around £300.

For a while I have had my eye on a Nikon 85Mm F1.8D Af

Just wondered if anyone out there had one and what they would give it out of 10?

Lenses I have are:

35mm F1.8, 18-105 VR, 70-300 VR

I quite like taking portraits outdoors and the 35mm gets me a bit too close to the subject sometimes.

Cheers

I had an oldish one a few years ago, cracking lens, solidly built, great bokeh, great length.
I used mine for live gigs mainly.
Looking possibly to get another again soon actually, or maybe the 1.4 version.

I'd give it a good 8/10.

I honestly thought that this lens would be a popular one, no one seems to have one therefore I surmise they can't be that good.

Any other suggestions?

Anyone?

I have both the f1.8 and f1.4 version.

The f1.8 is a fine lens, and not too big and obvious, will not disappoint you

The f1.4 is a much bigger lens, will out resolve most of my other lenses, and has an out of focus smoothness that is sublime.

I have no qualms about using the f1.8 when I want to travel light, I always thought that this lens was really good value for money.
