Another years past and it looks very much like I may only get to 1 rally again this year and this was only 2 stages!
The recession doesn't do much for expensive sports like rallying so it's been in a truly massive decline over here in recent years. I only made it to the friday night so saw a stage at dusk then a stage in the dark so far from ideal photo conditions but it does let you have some fun when you start to get the headlights matching the ambient light.
It's at times like these that I wish I would actually get around to getting some wireless flashes.
Also remembered at 5pm as I was heading to the rally that I had my 70-200 and 300 on loan :bonk: so off I trotted to shoot a rally with pretty much only my 50 f1.8 and 10-20mm.
2012 Circuit of Ireland, a round of the Intercontinental Rally Championship
Starting to get dark now!
Autofocus on the f1.8 dropped off and was in full manual to stop the headlights messing with exposure, adjusting for cars with headlights by dropping the iso a few stops
This is the typical view when watching a night stage!
C&C as always welcome
