Hi,

I'm just looking for some advice with regard to the best 72mm CP filter for attaching to my Canon ef-s 15-85mm.
I've been looking at b+w and hoya but would appreciate some feedback from you guys who can possibly offer some other recommendations.

Thanks for that. I've never heard of Marumi. I'll definitely check them out when I get a chance....
 
Not used it much, but the Kenko one I have seems fine, made in the same factory as Hoya apparently
 
I picked up a Hoya one on here not really had chance to use it yet but seems ok! Just bought it on a whim I have a 15-85 also!!

Yip. I have a Kenko CPL too, and I'm quite satisfied with it. AFAIK, the manufacturers distribute as Kenko in Japan - and a few other markets - and Hoya elsewhere.
 
Hi, as you stated "some other recommendations" DO NOT buy cheap, JMO but there are two reasons I would not buy cheap filters of any kind (1) As they say "You only get what you pay for" (2) Why put a cheap piece of glass on the front of an expensive lens and maybe degrade quality?

You might want to try Hoya hd cpl. Thin, reduced light loss as compared to other cpls and you still can attach your lens cap or other filters as it has a filter thread too!

Was previously looking at the b+w kasseman cpl, you can only use the provided filter cap and not your actual lens cap and it might vigenette if your lens is too wide unless you get the slim version which costs more!

I'm looking to get the 105mm version.

Why can't you use your normal lens cap? I'd be looking to use the b+w with a step-up ring when not using it with nd filters, and when I am then shall be using the lee holder system.

if i had the money i'd buy B+W, i have a few B+W UV filters and they're excellent quality.
I do however have a super dhg marumi cpl and find it excellent.
apparently the marumi super DHG came joint top with B+W in tests.
I also have a Sigma EX multi copated cpl which i find just as good as the Marumi.
AS for Hoya, i'd avoid full stop.
Not saying they're not as effective, but they're a right PITA to clean!!!
 
Well after a bit of reading have gone for the Marumi, if I wish to go further with filters in the future will then go the Lee and B+W route.
 
tried using it yesterday and must admit didn't use it for very long but could see any noticeable difference through the viewfinder however, saw the effect of using the cpl when viewed image afterwards and also looking at histogram.

On a mirrorless cpl's are a real pain!
