Circular polarizing filter

Having been to a car show yesterday, I'm wondering if I need a circular polarizing filter. The first one I've seen on amazon is Hoya but there's a pro-1 which is twice the price of one that isn't.

Is it really worth that difference , would I notice ? Am using a d3100 and tamron 17-50

Blimey - not cheap at £50-£70 depending on where they're bought from.

Surprised there was another VAG show on the same day as GTI International. That's supposed to be the ultimate meet of the year. FWIW I took my Canon G12 with me and used a filter adapter and a Hoya CP filter. It was the standard one rather than the Pro1 digital filter. Worked quite well - only needed to turn it max 90* to reduce glare and reflections.

If I were you, I'd play about with a secondhand CPL to see whether it offers the kind of benefit you're after.
 
I haven't been to Inters since 2005 - I can't be doing with it. This show was only 3 miles from home and was really well attended.

Maybe worth getting the largest size filter thread you may need.

I bought one a couple of years ago, but it is redundant since it doesn't fit some of my lenses. I ended up buying a 77mm filter and step up rings for each of my lenses.
 
Are the Marumi filters easy to clean? I have a standard Hoya CPL and it's a b****r to clean - but I also have a Hoya HD CPL and that is much better (also has less light loss) - 55mm size was £35 but the bigger sizes are £££ (eg: 62mm is £50).

The dhg super gas an easy clean coating for a few more quid! Can't say I've had any problem with my non-super one bug then I'm not obsessive over keeping filters spotless!

They moved Inters to Stratford this year. I've only been going since 2009, when I bought my car. Don't have a Flickr accound but I posted them up on the second page here:

I should have perhaps taken pics with and without the filter. I just found that rotating the filter meant the sun glare was reduced to virtually nothing and that any reflections of anything nearby were also reduced.
 
OK, thanks. Certainly helps by the looks of things. I have one for my 35mm..used it once I think which is why i'm hesitant
