I'm off to the circus tomorrow!

Going to the Chessington Garden Centre where they have Cirque Normandie performing.

It's a 50 minute performance and there are no animals.

There's mixed tier seating and chairs.

Anyone tried to take a camera to a circus before? What camera settings would be best?

Has anyone experienced any problems from audience/circus staff about taking pictures.

Not sure if to take the D300 or the compact Fuji.

Not a true circus, as such, it was a training circus at Wookey Hole.
Didn't particularly feel comfortable taking too many photographs as it was mainly children.
The main problem I had was the light, however, I could get away just about with the 70-300 zoom. If they are acrobats then I would think flash is a no-no

The Great British circus dont allow camera of any kind, from a slr to a camera phone. When I went last year Quite a few people got kicked out.

Can't wait to see the photos, bro!

DO IT O_O

Went to one in the tower ballroom at Blackpool and people were told not too take images with phones or cameras and no videoing.:nono:

Been to 2 circuses in the last 18 months in Spain.

1st one said no cameras at all. (got told off by the circus master when I tried to use my compact )

The 2nd said no problem - ended up taking a D200 + 50mm f1.8 and then choosing the seat according to best focal distance (much to the annoyance of my nephew :D). Glad I had the 1.8 though as the lighting was pretty hit and miss. Ended up taking around 400 shots!

Must say it saddens me when I read about the situation in the UK. The fear of accidentally taking a photo of a child who isn't family. The fear of being hassled by someone in the street if you have a camera round your neck. Makes me so glad I only have to visit the UK from time to time :shake:
