Hi,

ive found some realy nice clamps made by mcclamps, but cant find a uk stockist, needs to be clamps both end so i can clip to tripod and flower, anyone have some suggestions for where to get some in uk?

just thought, could do the diy method as ive a selection of clamps, but what could i use as the flexable bit inbetween the 2 clamps, needs to be strong but bendable?

regards
jason

Jason,
I made some out of cheap plastic clamps off Ebay fastened to longer versions of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Betterware-..._1_19?ie=UTF8&s=garden&qid=1242416960&sr=8-19
Mine are 14" long with black foam covering and I found them on Ebay (can't find link for them but I think they are called Twisty Ties)?
They are ideal for flower macro and cost around a fiver to make, much cheaper than plamps!
Cheers
Brian

Plamps cost £30.00 ouch!

yeah they do 30 quid each and there not very long, looking at diy method but struggling to find something thats bendy but secure

sounds daft maybe but what about something like welding rod (strong metal rod) attached to a heavy base with the clamp part been a crocodile clip or something?

sounds good in my head anyway lol

I used 2 plastic spring clamps from a pound shop (one larger than the other so it would clamp onto my tripod leg and other to flower stem)
the twisty ties are thick wire with 1/2" thick foam rubber coating to fix the clamps on I drilled a hole in end of clamp and pushed wire through and then filled inside of clamp handle with Araldite Rapid, 15mins later they were done!

cheers claymore, didnt see your original post to start with looks and sound ideal :)

I dont use clamps, I use a pot of hair wax that cost around £2 and has lasted over a year so far, stick them in at any direction I want - it also helps smaller plants stick to other surfaces. I also use blue tac.

How about using an old wire coat hanger.
