Like #2 a lot - converging of road, car and fence enhances the feeling of travel and direction.

T.wo of my favourite cars and great photos as well. Me like.

man I still dream of the Mk2 Rs2000.

That is an absolute stunner in the best colour.

Great shots.

Cheers for the comments folks.

Craig, I've got one sat in the garage in need of a slight resto it's something I always wanted.

Wow, you've done "Esso Blue" proud there Marcos James. Very evocative lighting and a powerful sky - superb stuff.
Is it Roger Clark's original chassis (LVX 942J) or a rep ?
Well worth printing that one BIG.

Like the pics, bring back fond memories of my Mk2. A friend bought one a couple of years back, & took me for a drive. Cars have moved on a lot in 30 years1

Well done  they're all excellent

What I like most about these is nothing to give away when they were taken in the shots so they could be 30 years old.

A friend of mine is restoring a 2 door Mk II, I have a car trailer so he asked me to go and pick it up, he description was, it's great really good condition.

When the guy bought it out I went in the workshop to see if there was another one in there because this one was full of holes

It's then when I appreciated the work that goes into making them look like they do in the pictures.

seeing it stripped down to the shell has made me appreciate 21st century safety systems, no wonder there were so many deaths in the 70s, it really is a tin can

Cheers both, the distant one has had some cloning done on it removing telegraph poles and wires and road signs.

Lovely Marcos. I used to own a MK1 Mexcio, but was fitted with RS2000 engine and 5 speed gear box, twin tanks in the boot, cage and strut braces. It was a fantastic handling car but I sold it to my cousin about 10 years ago and since the prices have gone through the roof. I sold it at the time as I also had a 2wd Sapphire RS Cosworth, which made it feel slow, but I do regret parting with it big time. Maybe again one day, when I get the time.

Thanks for the memories.

Cosworth, Mexico, RS, I feel all funny! Lovely pics !

im a massive ford fan, some lovely pictures you got there!!

Perhaps that's why I enjoyed the weekend so much, either reliving my youth or having a mid-life crisis.

Lakes tour and Snowdon are both a must for any ford fan

LVX 942J lives about 2miles from me, fully restored in the darker blue as it was liveried on it's last rally as a works car.

Not my picture but here's a shot of roy driving it at goodwood.

Thanks for that Mole.
Great to see the old campaigner still in good shape.

I hear the owner of the original is in Ireland, and bought the replica carrying the same plate, then bought the original and merged the two, not sure which one got sold though unfortunately, if either. I do know that he is the proud owner of possibly the most famous Escort ever. And it's so nice to see it get out and be used properly now and then.

The owner lives here in my town in N.Ireland, I know him and his family quite well.

He bought the car in 1974 originally and rallied it back then before selling it on. He then managed to get hold of it again (found it by pure chance when it was on it's way to the dump!) when it was more or less just a shell.

After spending a lot of time and money getting it all rebuilt in that time a replica popped up claiming to the the original although he still had the original logbook. He bought the replica and made a one original car out of the two (the replica car was a new shell with the original engine), then sold on the replica as just a clean mk1 with no history.

It gets a shakedown every few months and usually gets a trip to Goodwood and Loughgall for a bit of a stage every year.
