there is always a comedian about ...but i am sure there will be someone along soon with a constructive idea ...myself i would say a rocket blower

I am also very interested to know what to use on lenses and sensors. Any links to the item and how to use them would also be very much appreciated :)

Sorry for having a sense of humour... lol

I will get a rocket blower as that makes sense.

Think I will leave it at that.
Don't like the idea of messing around trying to clean the sensor.

lol you an me as well ..as far as i am concerned the sensor is a no go area too much to mess up in there

Artic Butterfly to clean your sensor.

Costs the same as two trips to a shop to get it done, and you'll never fear dust bunnies again!

Is the sensor a difficult thing to clean. i.e do you really need to know what you are doing or is there a bit of kit that will make it an easy job to do?

Many thanks.

This tutorial is often recommended. Its not too complicated and you shouldnt have any problems as long as you're careful.

Many thanks JD. A very useful link to be getting on with :)

I use a Hama lens pen for my lenses and filters. It does a great job.

I also have found the "Dust Aid Platinum" cleaning system to be very good for sensor cleaning on my old 5D mk 1 but TBH haven't had to do it since moving to the mk 2

You have a few options. I use a small paint brush for the body, if it's dusty, and a soft brush followed by a Lens Pen and/or microfibre cloth with cleaning fluid for the lenses. There's no need to overdo this.

You don't actually clean the sensor at all, it's the anti-aliasing filter over the lens, but we all call it the sensor. Cleaning is pretty straightforward. You have to be careful, but it's not a daunting proposition. Make sure the battery is fully charged, lock up the mirror and remove the lens. Hold the body facing down - so that the dust falls out - and use a Rocket blower. That's often enough. Stubborn dust may need a wet clean using Eclipse and pads, and there's a Lens Pen designed for cleaning the sensor too. There's a lot of information on these threads/the internet, or ask someone to show you how to do it the first time. This saves quite a bit of money, and the inconvenience of taking it to a dealer for cleaning.
