Cleaning Mirror

Hi All

Im pretty new to all this so sorry for all the dumb questions, I have searched about but seem to get a million different answers

I just received a new camera and there is a small 1-1.5mm dust ball with a hair maybe 5mm on the mirror (its at the top of the mirror)

Have not even taken a picture yet

Should I

1, let the camera auto sensor cleaner do its thing
2, get a blower
3, return camera (I understand that dust will get in there)

ok, tried 1, its still there, will get a blower tomorrow

take a pic with camera facing down then it might fall of.

To expand upon my previous reply.

The sensor cleaning mechanism will clean just the sensor. It won't shift anything on the mirror, but should any dust dislodge onto the sensor from there, it ought to take care of it.

Blower, because it's the safest thing to use to move the fluff you can see on the mirror.

would not use a blower on the mirror as it can blow dust on and behind the focus screen.

Hmmmm, this is why I made this post, conflicting answers

Its a pretty long hair with what looks like a knot on the end

pull it out then or get a coton bud and move it just be carefull. and dont touch the focus screen.

Try setting the camera to ignore lens attachment, remove the lens, hold the camera mirror side down, and fire off a few shots. That might dislodge it, allowing it to fall out and run less of a risk of sending it round the mirror box than a blower would do.
