Cleaning Sigma "suede" lens covering

I've got an old style Sigma lens with the suede style coating they used to cover their lenses with. Any tips for cleaning this stuff? It's all intact, just looks a bit scruffy and I want to smarten it up a bit.

I have a couple of those Sigma lenses ( 100-300mm f/4 and 180mm f/3.5 macro) and use a black shoe polish sponge type thing like THIS

You can buy them at any supermarket, you have to redo the lens every so often but mine still look brand new.
