Hi guys thanks for having me, I love all things outdoorsy camping, hiking and the like, always taking pics on my phone or wee compact camera so I suppose it's only natural progression to be thinking about my first dslr but as title states I'm clueless about them so any advice on a good start up camera, new or used, what too look out for if buying used or any other relevant info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance G.

Hi Glenn, welcome to the forum. If you often go camping and hiking, maybe a DSLR would be a little bulky. A high end compact, may be preferable. Loads of stuff to read up on, regarding cameras, over in the equipment section. Or if you have a question regarding a specific camera, ask in there. Someone will usually come along, and give their thoughts on it. :)

Hi and welcome to the forum :welcome:

Just bought my sister-in-law a Panasonic Lumix DC-TZ90, loves it :)

Welcome, as said hiking needs lightweight really, there's plenty of good cameras around 4/3rds etc
