Cokin filters...still cause a colour cast?

As title really. I'll be looking to get my first filters for my SLR early next year. Sadly, I can't afford Lee or B&W.

I'd like to get a square filter system, and I know Cokin filters apparently used to cause a purple colour cast. Is this still the case, or are they OK now? Or is it just when the filters are stacked?

I've never ever seen this even though I bought my filters over a period of years and must have therefore bought from several batches.

I've read about it lots on forums, just never ever suffered from it myself.

I have a few Cokin filters and I've never experienced any colour cast.

IMO they do the job very well.
