Cokin Filters

I have thought long and hard about using cokin filters for various applications, mostly on landscape shots

anyone have experience good or bad using the cokin system??

I use Hoya screw on filters at present ND and Circular polarising I like the simplicity of the cokin set up and the ability to use one or more filters at the same time

Comments anyone?

I use Cokin Z Pro grads and NDs am completely happy with them if anything slightly warm but definitely no magenta cast having said that I rarely stack them and shoot in RAW. I use Heliopan 10 stop NDs and CPs which I have very occaisionaly used with the grads.
 
I wasnt looking at the pro range- I thought I'd start with the "A" range or similar, not wanting to spend a fortune only to find I have no real use for them- ND filters were what I was looking for initially

however Jessops cannot get the filter holder for ( A Series) it seems, having just visited my local store in Taunton this very morning:bang:they did howver have lots of A series filters- but no holder or 55mm adapter ring

I started off with Cokin filters which are a great and inexpensive way to get into how to use them and see which ones you like (hard/soft, 0.6 or 0.9 etc).

I found the grads to be OK colour cast wise, but when used with a solid ND (3 stop in my case) I got horrid magenta cast.

Can't remember where I got my holder from but they are cheap as chips online.

Ah I see. Annoying. I suppose with the distance selling regs, you have the bonus of being able to send them back but if your moving house it could complicate things.

I can't even think of a good store locally. Is there a LCE in Exeter?
 
LCE in Taunton- closed today :bang:

I may pop down tomorrow and have a look and Exeter is about 40 mins from me so I could go there I guess

I have "A" Cokin filter holder plus 7 assorted boxed filters clean no chips or scratches for sale if of interest.
