Cokin P Adapter ring question

I have the Cokin P filter holder with an adapter ring for my 18-55mm lens.

The question I have is this, when I connect the Cokin P filter holder to the adapter ring, it clicks into place but seem to be lose. ie it will move round the adapter ring if there is some wind outdoors.

I am not entirely sure the adapter ring is the original Cokin brand but wondered if this was normal?

Any advice would help.

Ill think youll find they are designed to move around like that. Imagine that you have set up an ND Grad filter on the camera (for example), then decide that you want to shoot in portrait orientation...you would need to be able to spin the adapter around, so that the darker part of the grad was still at the top.

I have the Cokin P system also, and its not the best quality, so you may just also be experiencing a small amout of extra 'play' in the fit.

Thanks, I was just wondering whether there would be any impact on the image if the filter is moving whilst taking a long exposure. Obviously a full ND filter not a ND Grad
 
I wouldnt have thought it would have much impact to be honest. As long as you had the filter in the slot closest to the front of the filter and it was free of scratches/blemishes that would show up in the shot. You could also just try using a small amout of tape to stop it turning...or buy screw-in filters
