Cokin P filters?

I have just unearthed my old 35mm film bag and found a Cokin P holder and a number of useful filters which I forgot I had!

What's the opinion on Cokin filters for DSLR? Any good or do I dispose of them? :shrug:

Filters include polariser, ND grad etc.

are you sure they are P and not A?? thought A were the film days and the larger P were made for digital format??

but to answer your Q Cokin P size filters are pretty much the standard size nowadays and widely used.

Well, to be honest, I've got both sizes. P is the bigger one isn't it?

I've a range of the cokin P Series filters and have no issues with using them on my DSLR. Certainly do not throw them out. If they're free of scratches and in general good condition, then give them a try, should you have issues with them then discard, but I suspect they'll be perfectly fine.

A series are the small ones, P Series are the larger ones, X being the Huge ones.

I use the p121 (graduated nd) regularly, no issues on my camera (an ageing d70). Still one of those things you cant really reproduce with postprocessing (unless you hdr)

The P series were made for medium and large format cameras or wide aperture lenses (I think the P was meant to stand for Professional).

My only reservation about the Cokin filters is that the plastics material will create more dispersion than glass filters and this will be especially noticeable in very wide angle lenses on objects towards the edge of the field.

Hmmm. I'm pretty sure my Cokin p121 and sunset filters are glass?

they work just the same but the size will restrict which lenses they can be used on that is all.

P filters work well. I have a P holder and a few nd grads etc. I have used mainly on the sigma 10-20 (only works @12mm up)

Only downside is the magenta casting :bonk:

I used to have them, but when you stack x2 ND's they will produce a strong magenta cast especially the darker ones.
