does anyone use these, are they any good and for what type of photography? was wondering whether to get this with filters or just a normal uv filter

if its just to use for a UV filter get a screw in one, cokin slot in filters will allow more flexibility in the filter use which is especially useful when using filters like grads as you can position them more accurately compared with a screw in (can you even get screw in ND grads!?)

personally ive got screw in polarizers and UV filters but im now investing in a slot in system due to the additional flexibility!

I agree with whitewash.
Also a slot in system means I only need one set of expensive filters for all my lenses. Just have to buy the very cheap connecting rings more than once.
For protection get a screw in, and a screw in poloriser is a good start too.

When you want things like ND's and graduated filters its a good time to start off a slot set!

As above I invested in a cokin "P" holder and some hitech ND filters just last week, cheaper way to filter shots when you have one lens with a 52mm thread, another with a 58mm and a zoom with a 67mm.

Imagine how expensive it would be if you bought screw-ins for the different sizes!!!!!

P.S avoid cokin filters if you can as they are not that good. Hitech is the way to go if your on a budget.
