Hi, I wonder if someone in the know might be able to help me.

I'm after some promist type filters to soften the image a little, does anyone know what the cokin p series equivalent of a promist would be?

but you can see a net pattern on the filter, is there a chance this could be visible in the image?

has anyone used these filters?
 
I thought cokin did a range called diffuser specificaly intended for the same effects as the pro mists?
 
Anything you can 'see' on the filter should surely be out of focus/invisible on the resultant image, bit like shooting through the bars at a zoo?
 
yeah thats true, so as long as im not wanting to do macro with it then i should be ok.

i wonder what the difference is between their net filters and diffusers, they both seem to be doing to same thing
 
Best way to make it look filmic is to use film isn't it? :)
 
well if you can use a filter to take the edge off it and give it a filmic look then its alot cheaper than shooting film.

this is true, but I'd thought the point of these type of filters was to create some sort of 1970's wedding 'romantic', and I use the word losely 'tacky' may be better word, look. Wouldn't you be better adding some sort of diffusion in photoshop

Thats true. But I agree using Photoshop after the shoot might be better so you can decide if the effect works for the picture or not.
 
bascially i want the image to be sharp overall but for things to not have such sharp edges. promists seem to take the edge off without softening the image too much.
