I'm about to order a circular polarizer to go with the sigma 18-50 lens and was wondering whether a cokin p series CP would be worth using, or whether I should just go for the hoya Pro1-D that I was planning to get.

There's a fair price difference, but I don't really want something vastly inferior...

what do you guys think?

Hoya - definately. I have both versions and the Cokin spinny one has only got out the bag once!! Its basically next-to-useless in comparison!!

I've just had another thought - what about if I buy a 72mm-77mm step up ring and use the 77mm Pro1-D that I have for my 24-105?

Am I likely to have any isses with that?

the step-up might introduce some vignetting, but you should be able to correct this with PP......

well its a saving of £123 so I can cope with a bit of vignetting for that saving :D

£123 towards more toys is always good for me

Definately the hoya, there's always a reason for the difference in price.

Not tried a step up ring, but i don't see why it shouldn't work. it'll be cheaper than buying lots of different sized polarisers. :D
