Hey, I'm starting College in september and I am taking Photography, Media and Film. I have a Sony a200 - 18mm to 70mm and a Sigma 70mm-300mm. Anyone else have idea what more kit I could get?

An grip and flash may come in handy as well as a nice bag to keep it all in :)

I have a lowe pro bag which fits my Body, and 2 lenses :)

Just talk to your college, or they may even have a suggested/required kit list posted online. The actual required stuff will most likely be very minimal in order to make it accessible to more people.

What kit could you get? Well, anything you want. You're probably best starting and seeing where your current kit is lacking for what you want to do with it before you go splashing the cash.

Lots of film and paper, I am on my second year ND Photo and found that the first year was mainly 35mm film (85%), I went through approx 35 rolls of 35mm, 2 rolls of tranny and 200 sheets of Ilford 10x8. So this was nice and expensive.

Although the media group was not as in depth at our college.

As far as kit goes I coped quite well with what I have (see profile), and almost half the group did not even own thier own kit, they borrowed from the college.

I would recommend a tripod as you will definitely cover low light photography.

Yeah , the college im going to sticks to Digital however one of the colleges close by does film.. I would have liked to have done film.. I think we all take Digi for granted.. I cant really apreciate it as much as id like to..

flashgun triggers and a fast prime - those are the things that are fun - doubt you need anything for a college course

That's a shame you won't be doing film. I'm starting college this month and can't wait to have a proper go of film.

Did you know you could use your student ID to buy Adobe products significantly less than normal retail? Let me know if you need a link to the student site and i'll PM you? It's easy enough to find though.

I did Photography A-leve about 5 years ago (and got a A grade :D).

I only had my Dad's old 35mm Olympus OM1 and the standard lens. It surved me very well until I got a Canon EOS 300 35mm for my 18th b'day.
I'd say it's best to get a bog standard DSLR and see hwo you go on with that.

PS - Good luck on the course, you will have a great time if it's anything like my A levels. ;)
