Yes
I'm looking for a monitor calibrator - can anyone advise please? I've seen the Colorvision Spyder and Pantone Huey calibrators. Is one better than the other? (or are there other makes to consider?)

I don't want the top model, just a fairly basic one to do my PC monitor and (if it's possible) the LCD TV. I've seen models from both brands going for around the £60 mark.

Thanks

I had the Huey and only got rid of it because I wanted one which calibrates the screen to printer and vice versa.

Got acceptable accuracy with it. Not bad for £60!

Get the spyder3. AFAIK the huey calibrates colours but not monitor brightness which I think is the main cause of discrepency between screen and prints.

I'll have to look out for one 2nd hand as they're over my budget new I'm afraid...

Does the Spyder calibrate the screen to printer?

From the info I've read, it doesn't. I have the ColorMunki which does, but costs circa £330. Purchased it a year ago and have been very satisfied with the results!

Not sure what the cheapest printer/monitor calibrator costs. I guess with the ColorMunki, you're paying for ease of use and accuracy, plus the unit is built to last....

Sorry I can't be of any more help with alternatives.

I've got no complaints about my spider, I reckon it would stand upto to being chewed by a dog better than my Huey did. That thing had the resiliance of a bic biro.
